Beckham move halts LA Galaxy tour
David Beckham is set to join AC Milan in January
LA Galaxy have postponed their December tour of Australia due to David Beckham's impending move to AC Milan.
Beckham is set to join the Italian club on loan in January so is unlikely to risk injury for a friendly match against the Queensland Roar.
"We were not in a position to absolutely guarantee David Beckham's availability," Galaxy's business operations president Tom Payne said.
"To avoid disappointment for the fans it was decided to postpone this game."
LA Galaxy had been due to face the Queensland Roar on 11 December in Brisbane but have now postponed the fixture for a later date, yet to be confirmed.
However, the Galaxy will still play a 6 December fixture against an Oceania All Star team in Auckland, New Zealand. Beckham, 33, scored against Sydney FC last November, when the Galaxy previously toured Australia. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder his hoping that a move to Milan will boost his chances of selection in the national squad.
