The Jamaican pair will agree new one-year deals by the weekend which will keep them at Valley Parade until summer of 2008.
Fans were particularly worried that Johnson's early season form might make hima target for other clubs - particularly in view of the departure of fellow Jamaican Damion Stewart to QPR.
Colin Todd told the Telegraph & Argus: 'It sends out the right message if the club are to move forward. This will give us a bit more security.
'They are both important players in the squad and we are pleased to keep them on board bit it is important now that, having got the new contracts sorted out, they do not allow their standards to slip.
Chairman Julian Rhodes said: 'It was important that we did something because we didn't want to run the risk of losing them for nothing in the summer.'</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR>
