  • The silence is deafening..

yes, a couple people responded to X's posts...but by and large I find the Man U fans particularly very subdued.

Anyhow, it's still early days... just hope the real reds can keep it up for the next eighteen.

THERE IS ONLY ONE ONANDI LOWE!

"Good things come out of the garrisons" after his daughter won the 100m Gold For Jamaica.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Congratulations to the KOP and to its fans! With a little less than a quarter of the Premiership schedule having elapsed, you are now clearly in first place, with a lead of three points. You have defeated the top two teams of last season. You have been underachievers for a long time. Yes we have chided you for citing ancient football history regarding your tradition of success. You will continue to be chided until you really win the title and consolidate your success over several seasons. You need to build a new stadium, increase your earnings and increase your buying power.

Congratulations also to current third place team Hull and to 4th place team Aston Villa. Biggest congratulations of all goes to Tottenham Hotspur, who have finally reached the winning column. Of all the teams in the Premiership, the Spurs have been the most disappointing, clearly defying expectations with silly errors for a top flight team and uncharacteristic losses. It appears that the mere announcement of a leadership change has "spurred" the team to win. They must now, however, do a lot more so that they can shed the moniker Bottenham.

Beware of the 5th and the 6th place teams, Arsenal and Man U, the teams which have, together, won over 90% of the Premiership titles since inception. If history teaches us anything, it is that it is too early to start counting chickens before we have even reached January. With Carling Cup, FA Cup, Champions League/UEFA Cup, and international fixtures all looming in addition to the remaining three quarters of the Premiership, "any card can play." Depth of squad or lack thereof, injuries, suspensions, internal team drama, mid-season acquisitions, the weather, and surprises by low ranked teams to those on lofty perches, are among the many things that almost always come into play and affect the final standing in this the toughest and most competitive league.

As for my beloved Man U, I strongly believe they have a psychological advantage. For so many seasons, they have been off the pace early and have come storming home in the second half of the season. One season, they came back from ninth with more than 60% of the season having elapsed. Knowing that they have done this makes them comfortable and aware that they do not have to panic. They must, however, be careful not to repeat mediocre efforts such as Saturday's outing against Everton. When they gel up front and in the midfield, and when they stop letting down before or after big games, as they did after their defeat of Celtic in which a questionable first goal really changed the complexion of the match, they should come storming past perrenial pretenders such as the KOP.

Pleeeeeaaaaaase! When was the last time that a jockey started celebrating upon approaching the end of the first quarter of the Belmont Stakes? Thirty eight games are to be played yet only 9 have been completed!
