Championship club Barnsley have announced that Jamaican international winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce has signed an extension to his contract at Oakwell, keeping him with the Reds until 2011.
Manager Simon Davey was extremely pleased to seal the deal, saying: "It is fantastic for everybody connected that Jamal has shown his commitment to our Club by agreeing a new three year deal."
"Jamal has been in fine form since arriving from Southend last season and we are delighted that he will be staying for at least the next three years."
Campbell-Ryce was delighted with the contract extension himself, adding: "I am absolutely over the moon today."
"I knew exactly what the gaffer went through to bring me to Barnsley in the first place so I am delighted to repay that faith and belief in me by signing for another two-and-a-half years."
"Staying as a Barnsley FC player was a very easy decision. I enjoy playing for this Club and we have a great bunch of lads with a lot of talent."
Barnsley picked up their second win in three games last night with a fantastic 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday. Although the three points failed to lift the Tykes out of the relegation zone, they are now within one point of safety and goal-scorer Campbell-Ryce hopes the club will build on recent results.
"We have won two out of the last three games," he stated.
"We need more consistency and we want to push on and build. We just want to keep winning matches and we have another two coming up very quickly."
