According to the information I can find, Commonwealth Stadium, capacity 60,000, has a natural grass surface. The field could also be mashed up from the Edmonton Eskimos Canadian Football League games.

It is possible that the field could have underground pipes which circulate a heated antifreeze solution. In my neck of the woods, Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, has such a system.

The field could also be covered just prior to warmups.

The guy's were quicker to this one than I was Bruce. I had no idea that they'd be using a CFL stadium, there maybe a lot of empty seats come wednesday...

well the cfl team plays there but this was built for the commonwealth games.. and the U20 world cup also was played there. On a whole it can be a very good field. Not sure what shape its in now but it was pristine for the u20 last summer..

The Canadians have used it for WCQ's in the past. It is infact a football stadium used by the CFL team mentioned but the crowd support will be pro-canadian as I doubt any Mexicans live in that city. It shouldnt matter though because It is expected to be much cooler on wednesday evening when Mexico plays Canada. The expected temperature for wednesday nights game is 26F which means it will be very cold for the Mexicans.
