The coach added. "Basically, he's here for the senior team, but since he has the age, we just gave him a run in the Under-21 team to see how he looked as a trial run, but he was really impressive and is one for the future," Hyde stated.
Lawrence, who earned a deal with the 'stars of the east' following a successful two-week trial from American "A" League side Charleston Battery, etched his name on the scoresheet with four outstanding strikes within the first hour as the JFF Under-21 league leaders thrashed Wadadah 10-0 at the mini stadium.
Playing up front with strike partner and skipper Michily Waul, Smith gave Harbour View the lead in the 10th minute when he struck a hard left-footed shot inside the 18-yard box.
His second came seven minutes later, as he collected a cross on his chest - under pressure from two defenders in the box - before calmly steering it away from the goalkeeper.
The goal of the game was executed just ahead of the half-time in minute 41 when he dribbled by two defenders to blast from the top of the box into the far post, leaving the custodian baffled, as he notched a much deserved hat-trick. He completed the four-timer in the 51st minute.
"When I came here, I knew I had to prove myself and I'm slowly doing that... I enjoyed it (my first game), it was an exciting game and I can't wait for the next one," Smith told the Observer. The striker from South Carolina further stated. "It was actually very exciting and luckily my team-mates were very helpful and I received some great passes from the players," said the easy going Smith.
General manager of Harbour View FC Clyde Jureidini disclosed that Smith, who was introduced to him through a co-ordinated effort with Jamaican Ed Khoury, will be at the East Kingston club for the remainder of the season. "We have been in constant contact with his coach and mentor Ed Khoury... we sent him the report and he was very pleased with his performance in the game and we'll be keeping discussion open and see where it goes from here," Jureidini told the Observer.
