Another You are the Ref question
"Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance." ~ Kahlil GibranTags: None

1. Have the security remove the abusive father if he does not heed requests to cease and desist.
2. Finish the match and turn in your report.
3. Turn over the match to the reserve ref...and race to the loo!"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

1. Send the father from the field of play. If he doesn't leave, then his son is red-carded and told to walk-off NOW!
2. The home team is deemed to have forfeited the match.
3. You allow one of the assistants to take over from you and the match continues until you return.

1. At youth level the coach is also responsible for parent behavior. The parent can either be cautioned or expelled for the sideline of play field.
2. Continue the game and note in match report. Field conditions will affect both teams equally.
3. If its a pro game there is normally a 4th official that can take over the game temporarily. If no 4th official, an assistant referee can also take over the game if qualified to be a center referee. If neither ARs are qualified, the game has to be held up while you go to the bathroom. The referee assignor should also ban you from doing at least the next 10 games for poor preparation .

The answers:-
Keith Hackett's official answers:
1) Stop play and call over an official from the home club. Remind the official that the club is responsible for the conduct of spectators. Tell them to deal with the father, and advise them you will be reporting the incident to the competition. If the club fails to deal with the father, you must abandon the game. The FA's child protection policy covers not only officials and coaches, but also the behaviour of those watching.
2) You cannot intervene at this stage. Allow the match to proceed and report the facts to the Premier League at the end of the game.
3) At the next stoppage in play, advise your colleagues to observe the players while you leave the field for a comfort break. Restart play as normal when you return"Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing. And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb. And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance." ~ Kahlil Gibran
