Mexico dominated the first half, with some serious chances in the first ten minutes. Chile had a stretch of four corner kicks in three minutes, but did not threaten. Chile's best chance came late in the first half, a shot was fired across the goal mouth.

The second half was even. A Mexican defender tipped a cross into his own net for the score.

Plenty of pictures of Mexican fans fighting and throwing objects at Chile fans.

LOS ANGELES (AP) -Goalkeeper Miguel Pinto made four saves in the second half and Chile used an own goal in the 75th minute to beat Mexico 1-0 in a soccer exhibition Wednesday night at the Memorial Coliseum.

The loss was the first for Mexico in four games under new coach Sven Goran Eriksson. Mexico won three World Cup qualifiers at home.

Chile scored when Mexico's Juan Carlos Valenzuela deflected Emilio Hernandez's crossing pass from the right wing into his own net.

Pinto kept Mexico from scoring in the 54th minute by using his right hand to deflect Francisco Fonseca's 13-yard line drive past the left post for a corner kick.

In the 69th minute, Pinto dived forward to punch away William Paredes' swerving corner kick with both fists. Pinto finished with seven saves.

Chile's Fernando Meneses prevented Mexico from taking an early lead in the second minute by heading Fonseca's pass from the right side of the penalty area over the crossbar.

Watched the first half of that game Bruce. ((The game started at 11:00 pm!!)

MexTico without it's foreign contingent is still very dangerous.

The plan for the Reggae BoyZ is to beat Mexico at home. That is not impossible-- but a very tall order.

Mexican fans are rabid. Their expectation is that Mexico MUST win every game. Maybe they get that from the water they drink!!
