  • JFF side picking influence

I hope the JFF leave the picking of the side to the coaches. Provide the tools and players but leave it to the coaches. Fire the coach based on merit or performance In the long term them picking the team is a disaster. People talk about Best eleven, leave that to the coach. You see how Manu start without some a them big playes today and Drogba came on late for Chelsea?

and they would be STUPID to stand by and let a coach pick an under-20 team of players to play a crucial world cup qualifying series.

The JFF do have a say in the SQUAD assembled, like it or not. For instance, the JFF could implement a policy that restricts the coach from choosing UB40 players. They could implement a [policy that says at least 4 players of the under-23 should be in the national senior team.

That kind of policy shouldn't be set by JFF. The select the coach and have confidence in him. If he fails to deliver then it is time to let him go.

What has happen is the JFF don't have the technical knowledge even though certain people in it think they do, If they are going to select the team then they should come out of their offices and coach it.

I dont hold that view, especially in the context of Jamaica's football. It also depends on who the "JFF" is. If you are talking about the Jff technical comittee for instance, then you will agree with me that they are the ones that shape the overall vision for the national teams. In Jamaica's case, the national TD is more often the national coach. Traditionally, the TD role is more of a managerial role closely aligned with the Federation and its overal goals, and somewhat seperated from the coaching role. The federation in conjunction with the TD could put in place a plan to ensure that all national teams have at least 3 members at all times from the age group team below it...etc. It would be up to the various coaches to implement that mandate.

The strating 11 is always dicated by the coach.

          You are bang on, Sass!
It is my experience that we (Jamaicans) are the group of people who think expertise in every area of life lies within us.

Let us look at the JFF (all administrations) the primary job is to "move the football along"...if the commonsense was there, how is it that all our national teams are consistently on "stop-start-stop-start..." mode when everyone of the successful teams...matters not the part of the globe...keep their teams in a continuous program of training and getting better"?

I'll say it again, Sass you are bang on! These JFF administrators thing the know everything...and know not that they don't!

Surely if they believed in their coaches...and the job of finding that "best coach" is thiers....then even in the far recesses of their minds they should know that selected coach must have greater technical knowledge than they do? Even they should realise that if they harbour doubts on the competence of the coach they have selected then they have done a poor job on selection of coach?

With Statement like the "best 11" and who coming, it might work for now but who determine the best 11? Who determine the "best". The JFF can lean too heavily on the TD and that is not good. Also remember there are people in the JFF who have been around teams and may want to influence the selection.

Agreed. I will even even say that this squad is more of a Burrell squad than a Tappa squad.
