Capt Burrell should have resigned

Dear Editor,
I do not see the rationale behind firing the technical director of our national football team, Rene Simoes. Captain Horace Burrell, on his return to presidency of the Jamaica Football Federation, promptly fired Mr Bora Milutinovic and re-hired Mr Rene Simoes.
This he did without due process of advertising the position, interviewing prospective candidates and then choosing the best one based on merit. He obviously felt that Mr Simoes, with whom he had good experiences, could now pull the team from the rut it was in and make them rise to the occasion. Now that the chances of reaching the World Cup in 2010 are slim, at best, Mr Burrell has found it necessary to relieve Mr Simoes of his position at this the nth hour - to what end?
