  • Mexico's Pardo and Salcido not playing Canada

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Midfielder Pavel Pardo was injured and defender Carlos Salcido also unavailable for Mexico's World Cup qualifier against Canada on Wednesday.

Pardo has a torn ligament in the right knee and will fly back to Germany for further examination by his club side, while Salcido was suspended from his second yellow card in the 3-0 win against Jamaica at the weekend.

Neither player will be replaced in the squad, Mexican federation spokesman Guillermo Cantu said on Monday.

Mexico meets Canada in Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas.

With six points after two rounds, Mexico is the CONCACAF Group B leader, followed by Honduras with three points, while Jamaica and Canada had one point each.

The best two teams will move to the final round, where three spots in the next World Cup will be at stake.
