  • Did Simones use the right formation ?

We played a 4-4-2 formation yesterday. I was expecting that since this is an away game against the strongest team in the REGION, we should have gone for 4-5-1, in an effort to clog up the middle and give us more presence.

The midfiled is the weakest area we have now, as our failure to find a GOOD defensive mid, is putting too much pressure on the defenders.

I think the change of Moodie for E.Taylor was just an attempt to stem the number of golasoooss thata the Mexicans would score.

Our failure to put even a few passes together is the problem. I actually thought our shape was good! It was amazing the number of times we gave Mexico the ball!

Historically, we have never really done well using the 4-4-2. Now playing your toughest away game, I would think that a more defensive formation would be the way to go.

Exactly!! Our midfielders played awful and this is why I am amazed that people are pointing the finger at Fuller. Fuller and Burton got no type of service for most of the game. Simoes need to go to either a 5-4-1 or 3-5-2 formation. Bring in Shavar Thomas in the back with Pepe and taylor and push Bibi and Granny up more along with Rudi, Bomber, Hue in the middle of the park. Fuller need to keep his place and I think it should be a toss up between Burton and Shelton for the other striking role.

As far as 'now' is concerned this team - all the players - must perform NOW! The ball just was not used enough to aid conservation of...and use of energy. Possession and use (pass selection & making of effective passing) of ball was...how do I put it 'nicely'? - below even 'not so bad'!

Matters not if you have 2, 3 4 or 5 midfielders...if they all can't pass and make good decisions! All you would have is more persons in midfield playing poorly!

Well, I don't know of two better passers of the ball for Jamaica than Hue and Williams. And a midfield equipped with strong tacklers and players capable of keeping possession surrounding them would make life more comfy. Hence the inclusion of Gardner, Marshall and Austin who are not too shabby with the ball at their feet.
