Under-20s resume preparation for World Cup qualifiers
Jamaica’s Under-20 footballers will have good preparation for their second phase of the CFU/CONCACAF Under-20 World Cup qualifiers when they meet their El Salvador counterparts in two friendly matches later this month.
The Young Boyz who swept all their matches in the first round of the qualifiers will host the Salvadoreans on September 13 and 15 before heading off to Brazil for a two-week camp. To get ready for these games they will begin camp on Friday September 5.
On their return it will be off to Aruba shortly after where they will compete in Group C against Antigua and Barbuda and host country Aruba for an automatic position to the next round. There will also be two other groups with three teams.
To get ready for their immediate assignments and camp in Brazil the Young Boyz will return to camp on Friday and among their numbers are two members of the country’s Under-17 team. Midfielder Ashani Fairclough of Wolmer’s and Harbour View and forward Rohan Roye, who missed the Under-17 tournament in Trinidad and Tobago due to illness are the players who have moved up an age group level.
Additionally, Goalkeeper Gariece McPherson of Portmore United, defender Linval Wilson of Reno and Central midfielder Shane Bygrave of Waterhouse have been recalled to the training squad.
