  • The reality of the next game....

is that we must beat Mexico at home. A tie wouldnt be a disaster but it would put us in a hole especially if in the other match in our group the home team wins. The reason I say this is because at this moment based on logic in the semifinal round, "home teams should win at home and tie on the road. If a home team wins or ties on the road they would be even at +0, if an away team won on the road they'd be +2, if an away team lost on the road theyd be -1, if the home team drew at home they would be -2, and finally if the home side lost at home then theyd be -3

Based on that logic, the standings in the semifinal round of each group would look like this:

    +0 Mexico
    +0 Jamaica
    -1 Honduras
    -2 Canada

    +2 USA
    +2 Trinidad & Tobago
    -3 Guatemala
    -3 Cuba

    +0 Costa Rica
    +0 Suriname
    -1 El Salvador
    -2 Haiti

Note: Canada and Honduras are already in trouble having dropped pts. Canada is in a must win situation at home vs Honduras on matchday 2. They can ill afford to tie or lose.

Cuba is in a must win vs team USA having lost at home to T&T on matchday 1. Guatemala will be looking to get a point or possibly try for a win at T&T on matchday 2.

El Salvador needs points and theyre at home vs Haiti. Although Haiti needs pts as well having dropped 2 in their last home game. Costa Rica are at home vs Suriname. A draw for suriname would be a good result.

Bottomline is we must win at home next saturday no ifs ands or butts. If we drop 2 pts or tie we would have 2 pts from 2 games and that spells big trouble. Simoes better get it right on matchday 2.
