    Harbour View face stern test

Jermaine Hue ... expected to feature prominently for Harbour View tonight - file

DEFENDING CARIBBEAN Club champions Harbour View face a stern challenge this evening when they host top Mexican club Pumas Unam in the opening round of the inaugural CONCACAF Champions League at the Harbour View Mini-Stadium at 7:30.

Under the leadership of newly appointed Brazilian technical director Waldemar De Oliviera, a major priority in today's game for the 'Stars of the East' will be finally putting to rest a disappointing outing the last time the team played on the international stage.

On that occasion, the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup, Harbour View, after playing to a 1-1 draw at home, were thrashed 5-0 by American Major League Soccer (MLS) club DC United in Washington, D.C. However, according to Harbour View general manager Clyde Jureidini, the club has learned from its mistakes and is confident of putting on a creditable showing.

Particularly after seeing the good attacking display...

...by Joe Public it would be good to see The Massive giving analysis of Harbour View's display.

    Wah yuh seh Massive?

The match will be live on FSC at 8.00 Eastern and 5.00 Pacific.

Let us all tune in and after give our opinions on the match!
    FORWARD!

btw - Did that Joe Public match give a 'look-in' on where Tdad & Tobago is going?

Will Harbour View provide a 'look-in' on where our local standards are going? ...and an insight into how the REGGAE BOYZ are performing and or will be performing during these qualifiers?

We will always match up well when playing the MLS teams in the region, but fall short when we play away. HV did well last time to hold DC United to a 1-1 tie in Kingston, only to lose in the away leg. Another T&T side defeated Chicago fire in T&T some years ago, and ended up losing the series after a heavy defeat away.

It is usually not on the forefront of the consciousness that (speaking specifically on our football...and no other country) TEAM going as far as possible in these competitions (World Cup Competition...this is what these matches are really about!) gives the club TEAM and the individual player...and the country's football greatest exposure and determines credibility.

The few 'pops' and a quick elimination tell 'great stories'

What a boost it would be for all concerned (in Jamaica's football) if Harbour View plays good TEAM and moves to at least the third round?
        CAMPS of the CFU!
        CHAMPS of CONCACAF!

...who then would Harbour View meet?
What would be the size and level of exposure?

Thats true. I think that team youre referring to was San Juan Jabloteh if my memory is correct. They actually had a 3 goal cushion going into the return fixture and lost 4-0. CFU teams need to bury these MLS teams in return fixtures.

Hopefully this time we can see CFU teams do well and advance in their ties. On a side note PR Islanders got a valuable away tie in Costa Rica last night against Alajuense. Maybe things things will change this year in the Champions League.
