Reno, H'View to be sponsored by Wray & Nephew

    Wednesday, August 27, 2008

WHITEHOUSE, Westmoreland - Former National Premier League (NPL) sponsors, Wray & Nephew, has announced that the company has entered into "a significant sponsorship deal" with seasoned campaigners Reno Football Club.
"We believe in Jamaica's football. Football is one of the sports which brings communities together so we have decided to sponsor Reno not just for one year, but to enter into a three-year sponsorship deal with the club," Wray & Nephew brand manager, Christopher Hardy, remarked at Reno's annual dinner and awards ceremony hosted at Sandals Whitehouse, Westmoreland, on Sunday afternoon, to tumultuous applause from the audience.
Hardy noted that this announcement was the first of other sponsorship deals that Wray & Nephew will shortly tie up with other NPL clubs which galvanise their communities.
"This will not be the only club that we will be partnering with. The NPL season will get underway soon, so over the next two weeks there will be announcements on which other clubs will receive benefits.
"We're looking for clubs with the strongest community base support and there are a lot of clubs which have the community moving behind them," he added.
Meanwhile, yesterday, the Wray & Nephew brand manager revealed that Harbour View FC will be one of the contenders to receive similar funding from the company.
In the meantime, president of Reno FC, Radford Malcolm, expressed his profuse gratitude to the company "for buying into the Reno dream".
"Thanks to Wray & Nephew for coming on board to assist Reno, a team outside of Kingston. They have vowed to work with us in terms of cash sponsorship and fund-raisers for the community and for the club itself," Malcolm noted.
But, neither Malcolm nor Hardy was prepared to disclose a figure for the three-year deal.
