The Jamaica Football Federation is satisfied with the programme of repairs which is being implemented at the football field at the National Stadium.
Earlier this week the National Technical Director, Rene Simoes complained about the poor condition of the field after staging a training session. Simoes said he had been concerned about the state of the field from as far back as January this year when he returned for his second stint as Technical Director.
On Thursday, 14th a meeting was held between representatives of the Jamaica Football Federation, Independence Park Ltd; managers of the facility, the Sports Development Foundation and the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth & Sports.
The Jamaica Football Federation is satisfied that the measures as outlined at the meeting will ensure that the football field is brought to the standard required for international competition.
The Federation has agreed to submit a schedule of practice sessions to Independence Park Ltd, so that the field maintenance can be organized around this schedule. Independence Park has also advised that equipment to assist in the maintenance of the field has been purchased will soon be brought into operation.
The decision was also made to have a committee formed and mandated to oversee the short term and long term field maintenance programme, chaired by a representative from Independence Park with representatives from the Sports Development Foundation. The JFF would be consulted as needs be.
