HOUSTON (AP) - Bobby Boswell scored in the 77th minute, and Corey Ashe added a goal in the 87th as the Houston Dynamo defeated Pachuca 2-0 Tuesday night to advance to the Superliga final.
Houston will play the Superliga championship match Aug. 5 against the winner of Wednesday's semifinal between Atlante and New England.
Boswell scored off Dwayne De Rosario's corner kick in the 77th minute. De Rosario sent a bullet from the right corner toward the net, where Craig Waibel crossed it from the right to the left of the goalkeeper's box. A charging Boswell kicked in a right-footed shot.
Ashe made it 2-0 after getting a cross from Brian Mullan from the right side to the left. Ashe headed it past goalkeeper Miguel Calero.
Pachuca, which won Superliga last year in penalty kicks over Los Angeles, appeared to have scored in the 59th minute. Gabriel Caballero was whistled offside by referee Neil Brizan.
Houston lost to Pachuca twice previously in international competition. In last year's CONCACAF Champions Cup semifinals, the Dynamo fell 5-4 on aggregate in the two-leg series. In last year's Superliga, Pachuca prevailed over the Dynamo at Robertson Stadium, 4-3 on penalty kicks after the teams played a 2-2 draw.
