I8 teams to contest Captain's Bakery KO <DIV class=KonaBody>

The 2006-07 St. James Football Association (StJFA) domestic season kicks off today with two first-round games in the Captain's Bakery Knock Out, which will feature 18 teams — the parish's two NPL clubs, four western super league contenders and twelve senior league teams.
The games down for contention are Granville FC against Blacks; Diamonds at Sam Sharpe Teachers' College; and Mountain Villa against Montego Boy Boys' Club at Wyndham Rose Hall. The games, which will feature extra-time and penalties if a winner is not decided in regulation play, will start at 3:30 p.m.
"Everything is in place and we are basically ready to go," said Lilli-Mae Crawford, the league director for the StJFA.
"Like last year, we are extpecting an exciting season of high-quality football and the teams are anxious and ready to go."
In addition to earning qualification for the Jamxcia Football Federation All-Island Knock Out Competition, the winning team will pocket $70,000 and individual gold medals for team members. Second place will pocket $50,000, third place $30,000 and fourth place, $20,000.
The full complement of teams read as follows: Seba United and Wadadah FC - NPL teams; Black Diamond, Mt. Salem, Granville and Salt Spring - western super league contenders, and Altobar, Champion, Mountain Villa, Tomorrow's People, Violet Kickers, Seba Youths, Reggae Lions, Catherine Hall, Montego Bay Boys' Club, Melbourne, Juniors and Fogo.
Coming on the heel of today's start of the Captain's Bakery KO, the Steve Bucknor KO, which will feature 16 Division One teams, will kick off tomorrow with two games - Defenders against Rosemount and Barrett Town against Salt Spring.
The winning team will take home the Steve Bucknor Trophy and $40,000 while second place will take home $30,000. This competition is financed by renowned cricket umpire Steve Bucknor, a former top-flight parish goalkeeper.
The competing teams are ACS, Revelations, Defenders, Firehouse, Rosemount, Salt Spring, Maldon, Marl Road, New Johns, Barrett Town, Glendevon, Kings, Seaview and Upton Flames.
