DALLAS, USA - When the Reggae Boyz face Central American outfit El Salvador this evening at 6:00 at the Pizza Hut Stadium in Frisco here, it will be an audition of sorts for the Jamaicans as they look for places in the World Cup qualifying squad.
With their opening CONCACAF World Cup qualifying semi-final game coming up against Canada on August 20 in Toronto, each player in the 20-man squad in steamy Texas will be seriously competing for a prized spot in that group, and assistant coach Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore, is encouraging it.
"It's a chance for the players to go out there and show what they can do as we look to the Canada game next month. The players are looking forward to it because they know that this is their chance to play in the World Cup qualifiers.this is really a starting point, so they have to grasp it with both hands," said Jamaica's hero at the France 1998 World Cup Finals.
