Bacolet, Tobago - Jamaica suffered their third consecutive loss in Group A of the CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championships, going down 1-2 to Puerto Rico yesterday at the Dwight Yorke Stadium.
Neither team had a chance of advancing to the semis after losing their games to Mexico and Canada.
Michelle Cruz lobbed goalkeeper Keeley Williams to give the Puerto Ricans the lead, as Jamaica for the third straight game conceded a goal inside the first 20 minutes.
Amanda Dudley then doubled the lead early into the second half.
The Reggae Girlz, however, were brought back into contention when substitute striker Elise Procope finished a wonderful build up from close range.
Puerto Rico staved off a last minute onslaught with goalkeeper Taina Ortiz, who has been outstanding, denying Procope and the Jamaicans a share of the spoils.
Luciano Gama, coach of Jamaica, deployed five in the middle with Shenika Williams getting her first start of the tournament, playing as the lone striker.
Kession Walker, who had a great game last time out, earned a starting spot for the injured Melissa Madden.
The first 15 minutes were far from enterprising and Jamaica fell behind when Michelle Cruz lobbed a slow-moving Keeley Williams.
It almost got worst for the Reggae Girlz, as on two subsequent occasions, the Puerto Ricans breached their defence, but failed to add to their lead.
Cathryn Rogers created pace but shot straight to the Puerto Rican 'keeper Taina Ortiz, while Sashana Campbell's downward header from Williams' cross went wide.
Captain Monique Pryce should have scored what would have been the goal of the tournament, when she dribbled from just inside her opponents half into the six-yard box, before firing a weak right-footed shot straight into the waiting arms of Ortiz.
Another glorious opportunity went abegging for Puerto Rico on the stroke of half-time when Zovel Hyre's poorly taken back-kick was picked off by Cruz, who booted high.
For the third straight game the Jamaicans started the second stronger than their rivals, but they fell further behind as Amanda Dudley doubled the score with a simple tap in from close range.
Procope, who was playing for the first time, made her intentions known as she fired inches past the upright. She returned later to finish off a beautiful build up to slide the ball by Ortiz.
Trudi Carter then got a golden chance to level the scores, but was denied from point blank range by Ortiz.
