Well it will tell a brave soul to break the mold and make it possible for other black Italians to play for their country. Suppose Obama had said no to running for office because he was afraid of being assasinated.

He won't have to deal with racist abuse while playing for the national team. Not from the Italian fans, anyway.

I'm Italian not Ghanaian, insists Balotelli

Inter Milan's teenage star Mario Balotelli pinned his colours firmly to Italy on Thursday by insisting that he does not want to play for the land of his forefathers.

Balotelli was born in Palermo to Ghanaian immigrants, whose surname is Barwuah, but when he was three years old he was entrusted to an Italian family, called Balotelli.

Due to Italian law he could not request Italian citizenship until he turned 18, last month, as he was never formally adopted and now he is part of the Italy under-21 squad.

Ghana want Balotelli for World Cup

Italy risks losing Mario Balotelli to Ghana as their manager Milovan Rajevac is trying to tempt him into playing for the Black Stars at the World Cup.

Rajevac is desperately looking for a centre-forward to take to South Africa and hopes to exploit the fact Balotelli has never been called up to the full Italy squad.

Balotelli has dual nationality having been born to parents from Ghana before being adopted by an Italian family.

                Appiah sells Ghana to Balotelli

Bologna midfielder and Ghana captain Stephen Appiah has pleaded with Inter striker Mario Balotelli to abandon the prospect of playing for Italy.

A foster family from Brescia adopted Balotelli, but his birth parents were of Ghanaian origin, meaning he has dual nationality.

Balotelli has been capped 15 times for the Italy Under-21s but has yet to earn a call up from Marcello Lippi to the full Italian national team.

He obviously haven't see the video tape of when Mussilini invaded Ethiopia and used Poisoned gas on the gods.

Then again can we really blame him when you have black people still running around as Catholics and Christians without digging deeper to find out where Christianity originated and who the Romans are

Why they are hiding the black madonna and why they wrote the black woman out of the bible

we can't really be pointing fingers as the youths ignorance is a reflection of ours. Its us the elders who have to set up institutions to ensure that our culture and history gets passed down from generation to generation as no one is going to do it for us

Now that we have the internet, how many of us ensure that our children take the time to watch and learn from our scholars? WE leave all our education to the "high schools" and when they fail we blame them

what are we doing to alleviate the situation?

each one teach one so how we forget that part of the bible and stop exchanging books and reasoning among each other?

no wonder our kids are so lost, they are a reflection of ourselves

This could have something to do with why he has stayed away from Ghana so far:

Italy coach Marcello Lippi ponders Mario Balotelli inclusion

Italy coach Marcello Lippi faces another dilemma as calls for Inter striker Mario Balotelli to be included in the World Cup 2010 squad intensify.

Super Mario's performance in Inter's 2-0 victory over Rubin Kazan on Wednesday night prompted Nerazzurri president Massimo Moratti to exclaim "Balotelli was good enough for the national team." His words have now led to Sportmediaset.it reporting that Lippi will consider the youngster for a place in South Africa.

Ghana boss stood up by Balotelli

Ghana manager Miroslav Rajevac appears to have failed in his bid to persuade teenage Inter striker Mario Balotelli to join the Black Stars squad for the World Cup finals this summer.

Rajevac had reiterated earlier this week his plans to have the Italy Under-21 ace at his disposal for the showpiece event in South Africa and was hoping that Ghana international midfielder Sulley Muntari would mediate things with his Nerazzurri team-mate.
