BASIC SCHOOL RELOCATION AT FERDIE NEITA PARK
It has been alleged in recent media reports that there is an effort underway to relocate the basic school that currently exists at Ferdie Neita Park to another location. If this is in fact the case, for the record, Portmore United FC is in no way involved in any such efforts nor are we aware that any such efforts actually exist. Furthermore, please be advised that Portmore United FC utilizes the facilities at Ferdie Neita Park under an arrangement with the Braeton United Sports Club who are the authorized managers of the Park. As such, we have no authority, legal or otherwise, to engage or terminate the tenancy of any other entity at the facility.
The basic school does not in any way impede or obstruct our use of the facility whether it be for practices or match days. In fact, we have always supported the basic school in the past in a very tangible way through donations and the contribution of books etc. Portmore United FC has a strong commitment to the development of our youth and community through football and we are deeply offended by the suggestion that we would be behind any move to irresponsibly disrupt the operations of an institution that is entrusted with the education and development of young minds. It is unfortunate that Portmore United FC were not consulted before these reports aired and we regret any concern or discomfort which they may have caused our fans, supporters and the greater community. We hope that this provides some much needed clarity on the matter as far as Portmore United FC are concerned.
