Footballer remanded until August 7
Anthony Gibbons, a member of the Arnett Gardens Football Club accused of robbery with aggravation, was remanded in custody until August 7 when his case was called up in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
Allegations are that on June 25, Gibbons and two other men robbed the complainant of a motor car along Studio One Boulevard, Kingston 5.
Gibbons' lawyer however offered a different explanation stating the car was lent to the complainant who had failed to return it after an extended period. He said the complainant and a group of men including Gibbons and the actual owner met, had discussions and the car was returned.
The lawyer said since the case has been brought before the courts the complainant has fled the island as it was discovered that while in possession of the car he had falsified documents, stating that the vehicle was his. Resident Magistrate Glen Brown remanded the accused in custody until August 7. The ruling was obviously not one that Gibbons favoured as he bellowed: "Woi - Jah kno mi career mash up," as he was escorted back to the holding area
