    Again, I think it would not make economic sense, so I doubt if many slaves were brought to the west by this route. Maybe most slaves went east.

      Then again, if Portugal did not have control of those western countries, apart from Angola, then they probably had no choice but to sail around the southern tip of Africa. Afterall, Brazil is a big country, in need of many slaves!

                I tend to see it that way too, that's why in my earlier post I said that "many Brasilian Blacks originated from the Angola area." Yes, economic sense would prevail (even in dem dere times) and Angola would be the main resovoir. However, I would also want to believe that every once in
                a while the Portuguese took some slaves from the East Coast, especially in cases where they needed a few more to make up a full cargo.
