Pulis on Austin,
He is fast, has two good feet and is good in the air. those are the strong points, all physical. It is tough to find a weak point there, one potential weak point may be desire and discipline to do the right thing most of the time which is what beats many of our best players, but all indicators point to that not being the case with Austin, then it is about getting some early success and building on that or he will have to have faith like Paul to get him through the tough times that are surely coming from a rough Stoke EPL season much like what has happened to Shelton.
Let's look at the good points and the converse,
1. Speed, with superior speed austin is able to beat most if not all to the 50-50 ball, he is able to even beat many to the 40-60 ball, he is able to evade and move away from a tackler, those are excellent, to the converse if a man is slow like a Hue or Williams or a goodison then you will loose the 50-50 ball most of the time all other things being equal, you will lose any thing that is not a clear advantage for them from the get go so they cannot create anything unless it literally fall in them lap. In any match whether is scrimmage, Krabit soccer (Calabar days) or EPL ball where their is a perceived weakness the tendency is to exploit it thus a slow man will be tested again and again until he breaks and he will break as he has a fundamental flaw vs the quicker opponent, the only thing that can beat that is an excellent team defensive system to cover the individual defect.
2. Good with both feet, this enables the player to be not trapped on one side as once the opponent realises that is a one sided demon, he has lost the potential to surprise and unless he is fast then him dinner really done there is no adavtage at all. Austin being good with both feet creates fear and pandemonium in an opponent as he now cannot put all his eggs in the same defensive basket he must be more cautious allowing more space and thus more opportunity to the attacker or player with the ball.
3. Good in the air, talk about superior you cannot buy this one and if a man is good in the air and fast then if he is paying attention most of the time then he is going to whip you like "fanna on legal light'
this is what we do need in our players especially on the d side, exact same combination throw in some tenacity and discipline and you have the perfect combination.
just some quick thoughts, mi gawn..
