Leeds United are checking out Sheffield United striker Luton Shelton.

According to the YEP, the 22-year-old Jamaican international is believed to be interesting Gary McAllister as he prepares to begin his close-season recruitment for a second campaign in League One.

The Blades paid £1.85m to Swedish club Helsingborgs for his transfer last year after his record of nine goals in 19 appearances caught their attention, and they will be looking to recoup most of that if they sell him on.

The 22-year-old was signed in January 2007 by former boss Neil Warnock, but he has started just seven league matches and featured on only three occasions under current boss Kevin Blackwell.

Blackwell has a number of strikers available to him, including James Beattie and Rob Hulse, and Shelton may find his opportunities limited again next season.

Shelton has two years remaining on his current deal and the youngster is believed to be interesting a number of other clubs.

Leeds would have to secure a work permit for the forward if they sign him on a permanent basis.

Shelton netted twice in Jamaica's 7-0 victory over the Bahamas in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday and he has scored four goals in 10 starts for Sheffield United with 15 sub appearances.
"Jamaica's future reflects its past, having attained only one per cent annual growth over 30 years whilst neighbours have grown at five per cent." (Article)

    Shelton's strike rate?
Best of all our strikers..by far!

...yet I worry about how often he gives away the ball.
Poor shot! Poor passes! Poor technical ability (trapping the ball...and having it run away from him - Gifted to the opposition, hanging on to the ball to do his little square squeeker pass to himself i.e. squeeks/has defender on his back...ignores passing options and attempts to turn ball beyond defender and then outrun self same defender. Works great at this lowly level....but shall only result in giving the ball away more often as he climbs to higher level. He just cannot be attempting to pull such a stunt 4 times and upwards in a match. Madness! Brain shut down foolishness! etc., etc.)

When Fuller comes back for his seat at the Dinner table will Shelton be asked to excuse himself?

Is Rene strong enough to bench im balla for a better striker or put him on the wing?

I know. He played with lots of confidence. I hope he will do the same with stronger oponents.

My yute it's a long qualification campaign. Players get injured, lose form etc. so dwelling on this topic is kinda pointless
