  • Strange omissions from the ReggaeBoyz squad

    1. Nuggsy has stated publicly that he wants to play for the Boyz and, furthermore, he is a quality EPL defender. Yet, even a defender such as Jermaine Taylor gets the nod over him.

    2. Ricardo Cousins made headlines before the second coming of The Prof. In fact, upon arrival at the Norman manley airport in Kingston, Cousins was one of the few players Simoes mentioned by name that he looked forward to having in the squad. The question is how did Cousins go from Hero to Zero, to the point where he has been overlooked for a previously unknowned Evon Taylor from Reno FC.

    3. Jermaine Hue seemed the only logical player to pick up the baton left by the retired Midfield Maestro, Tappa Whitmore. His performances in a ReggaeBoyz jersey have always been commendable so, inspite of his track record as a pro player, it is discombobulating that Coach Simoes has not looked the way of the Harbour View midfield general. It's even more mindboggling when one considers that only Andy Williams can come close to providing the pinpoint passes that a Jermaine Hue can deliver. That, coupled with his ability to take deadly free kicks, were thought to be his ticket into Simoes squad; not the contrary.

    4. James Thomas of PMU was considered, on his Brasillian camping trip, to be good enough to be scouted and courted by one or two Brazillian top clubs. Yet, upon the team's return to Jamaica Thomas has become a forgotten man.

    5. Andre Darby thought his day had come when the Prof called him up to training camp. In fact, the player had so much self confidence that he went as far as to compare himself to Rio Ferdinand of ManU fame. That Darby has been left out of recent training camps, tells a confusing story.

    6. Mario Swaby was a very good find for the left side of midfield or defence, or so thought Bora Milutinovich. However, the PMU player has been unable to impress The Prof so far.

    7. Fabian Dawkins of Village United was once thought to be a sure call up for Jamaica squads. But since the arrival of The Prof the Village United player has failed to make the required impression.

    8. Teofore "Tafari" Bennett went to Africa, by way of Sweden that is. One wonders if he did the right thing as he is now off the radar where he would've been able to impress The Prof.

    9. Roen Nelson came back home from Trinidad & Tobago so that he would be better able to position himself for the national team. Yet, inspite of his exploits as a club/pro player, he has been unable to win the confidence of the national coaches and selectors.

    10. Nicholy Findlayson seemed to cemented himself as a member of the national squad in the Brown, Boyous and Bora tenures but has so far been strangely ommited from Simoes squads.

          Sign of progress?

Perhaps it is a sign of progress that we have 10 good players who can't even make the bench!

Nuggsy fi still get a run....our defense is weak.

The same type of thinking that created a problem cannot be used to solve the problem.

Karl's is another, although I won't say the sequence.

It is really good when you can take shots at Karl and he just roll with the punches and come again. He is a good sport.

Proof to me we have 25 adus , you have listed 10 people and out of the 10 , 3 were discovered by Rene since his last tour with us, Nelson , Hue & Dawkins,he has since discovered a youth called Evon Taylor I think its his name.

Talent abounds the island and he has yet to scratch the surface. .

Why is it everytime someone roll out a list of names we automatically assume that it equates to talent? All the names listed nuh mean sey dem can cut it pon de international stage. Hell, every country hav a ton load a players dat dem feel can rule de world but in truth and in fact it tek a special type of person to bear de weight and expectations of an entire nation. Few of those names listed have had their chances in the national setup and could not step up to the plate. A long list nuh equate to an abundance of talent it just mean that you have a long list.

                          Shelton cut it under W.D , a find ,

Damani cut it under C.B another

G.Reid cut it again under C.B

It amazes me that under every new T.D they unearth these finds , look at Bora .It cannot be coincidence that these finds just buss outta a nowhere?

                          Talent abounds , 25 Adu every new T.D .Simoes , C.B , W.D and Bora Simoes again.

That does seem to be the case, lost in all of this bigging up , we still dont have a national program , or any program.
