Jamaica advanced to the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Final Round after defeating the host, Bahamas, in the final game of the Caribbean First Round Qualification Group B at the BFA National Centre in Nassau in July 2007. The win also gave the Reggae Girlz first-place in Group B after they defeated Haiti.
Now, Jamaica’s National Under 20 Women’s Team leave the island on Sunday, June 15, 2008 to participate in the 2008 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship that will take place at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, Mexico from 17-28 June, 2008.
The hosts, Mexico have been drawn into Group A along with Cuba, Trinidad & Tobago and the defending champion, USA, while Canada, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Nicaragua will compete in Group B during the first round from 17-22 June.
The semifinals and finals will take place on 25 and 28 June, respectively, where three teams will qualify to the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Chile 2008.
Jamaica bows into action on Tuesday, June 17 against Costa Rica.
