JFF execs off to FIFA Congress Down Under

    Sunday, May 25, 2008

Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) president, Captain Horace Burrell, will lead a team of local football executives to Australia where they will attend the annual FIFA congress.

Scheduled to leave the island today, Burrell will be accompanied by first vice-president Dale Spencer and treasurer, Gary Sinclair.

Burrell said matters relating to the World Cup and Olympic Games qualifying will be top of the agenda.

The CONCACAF Executive Committe member, on his second stint as president of the JFF, said he will use the occasion to make crucial links for future friendly games for the Reggae Boyz against African countries like Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon and the Ivory Coast.

"This will be an ideal opportunity to have face-to-face discussions with my African friends to see that we get quality games against these quality teams from that part of the world, and we will be going all-out to try and get the Ivory Coast in particular," Burrell said.

The JFF top man, who is also senior vice-president of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU), said after wrapping up his participation in the FIFA congress, he will head directly to Trinidad & Tobago for the Soca Warriors' friendly game against England on June 1 as a specially invited guest to FIFA vice-president, Austin 'Jack' Warner.

Burrell will be back in the island in time for Jamaica's friendly match against St Vincent & the Grenadines at the National Stadium on Tuesday, June 3.
