  • Bora is the Man as reported in the Gleaner

I'll go on record saying Boxhill made another wrong move by hiring Bora. We need a nice size staff who can work with the local players closely and develop them. We need a strong tecnical person who will be looking across the Iisland to develop players like Simoes did. We need someone who will get camps in South America and Brazil. THis brings exposure and experience

I can't wait til Boxhill demit office

Well, there is always time for Bora to resign!

Put me on record for disagreeing with the reported salary of J$266M a year!

Bora's the man - Shoo-in for technical director

VELIBOR 'BORA' Milutinovic is set to take over as technical director of the Reggae Boyz as the nation pushes for a berth at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, dubbed the 'Back to Africa Campaign.'

The much-travelled Serbian arrived in the island yesterday to go over final details with officials of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF). Milutinovic has developed a great reputation worldwide as he has coached five teams - Mexico, Costa Rica, the United States, Nigeria and China - to the World Cup.

Four of those teams were also able to progress to the second round of the competition, the only exception being China, which failed to do so at the 2002 World Cup.

With Jamaica putting such a strong emphasis on reaching South Africa for the 2010 finals, not only from a sporting but also a cultural standpoint, it is hoped that the coach will be able to do the same for a team which made its World Cup debut in 1998 under then national technical director René Simoes, but has struggled mightily in recent times.

Details of the contract have not yet been revealed. However, preliminary reports had indicated that Milutinovic's agent had initially asked for 3.5 million euros or J$266 million a year.

good coach but then to do well and only concern himself with results. We need that but more to develop coaches. Maybe if given the right mandate he is the right person. Anyway has to be better than who was there. I would have chose pekerman however.

I agree that we need something for our local coaches to measure themselves by but I have tell you OJ...My opinion is that it should not be the national team's coach's job to develop coaches on the island.

That is the job of the JFF. They are the ones who have to set the island wide curriculum and grade/license coaches based on their understanding of these standards. If they wish to bring in a curriculum from a foreign country there is nothing wrong with that. They just need to take the initiative and get it done. No coach can do this for us. We have to do it for ourselves. - T.K.

Bora is not my first choice as TD, but I will work with him. It seems as if Boxhill and crew are only concerned with reaching S.A nad nothing else.

So what you saying he is repeating Burrell's mistake? Good point Tilla, I think the holistic development of our football programme is the way to go.

Boxhill won't be around so this is the perfect choice. The next regime will focus on building from the grassroots we need results NOW and Bora will make sure of that.

The question is national senior coach or Technical Director! The TD role is to build ciriculum and develop all areas
