    Lindsey Wilson Men's Soccer Scores
Five Unanswered Goals to Beat Mid-Continent 6-

    Posted: 9:44 p.m. CT on Saturday, October 7, 2006.

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson College freshmen Carnell Learmond and Mustafa Celik each scored a pair of goals to lead the Blue Raider men's soccer team to a 6-1 win over visiting Mid-Continent (Ky.) University at Lindsey Wilson Park.

Learmond scored both of his goals in the first half to help Lindsey Wilson (8-2-0) to a 2-1 lead at the half. The goals are Learmond's fifth and team-leading sixth of the season. Mid-Continent's Fenton Graham scored the Cougars' goal in the 25th minute to momentarily tie the game at 1-1 before Learmond gave the Blue Raiders the halftime lead.

Following the break, Celik scored his second goal of the season in the 50th minute to give the Blue Raiders a 3-1 lead. Five minutes later junior Adam Howard scored an unassisted goal, his third of the season, to push the Lindsey Wilson lead to 4-1.

In the 67th minute, junior Ryan Stewart scored off one of Howard's two assists on the night. The goal is Stewart's sixth of the season, tying Learmond for the team lead.

Celik ended the scoring in the 72nd minute with his second goal of the night and third of the season to cap the 6-1 Lindsey Wilson win.

Lindsey Wilson out-shot the Cougars (6-2-3) 19-11 for the match, including nine to four in shots on goal.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Monday, October 9, as the Blue Raiders travel to Mid-South Conference newcomer West Virginia University Tech in Montgomery.
