Very animated player, ideally in defence where he can keep an eye on his fellow players.Wasn't a bad choice at all, doubt if any other Arsenal player would've made a meaningful difference or at least done as well as Gallas.

...that is the one matched where he did two things wrong!

1. His emotional display...before the penalty was taken... - A time he sould have been holding his team together mental and setting an example that could be physically seen as being strong!

2. Removing himself from being a part of the TEAM poised to asist the goalkeeper in defending if the penalty-kick had resulted in the ball coming back into play.

The mental breakdown occured before the penalty was taken...his collapse and bucket of tears was merely continuation of that mental breakdown.
