JFF names 30 for women's Under-17 training camp
Thirty female Under-17 players were called to a training camp yesterday by the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) in preparation for the CONCACAF Under-17 qualifiers set for later this year.
Jamaica are among eight teams of which only three will qualify for the FIFA World Cup in New Zealand in October.
Jamaica will play alongside Trinidad & Tobago, Puerto Rico, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico and USA at the 2008 CONCACAF Women's U-17 Championship.
Jamaica advanced to the 2008 CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship after finishing first in Group A of the Caribbean Qualification in St John's, Antigua and Barbuda from November 21-24.
Jamaica began Group A at the Antigua Recreation Ground on November 21 with an 8-0 win over the US Virgin Islands. Monique Pryce, Vanessa Ramsay and Shenika Williams all scored two goals each for the Reggae Girlz in the quadrangular opener.
Williams then notched three goals to lead Jamaica to a 7-0 victory against Antigua and Barbuda and ended group play with a 2-1 triumph over the Cayman Islands at the St John's Yasco Sports Complex.
The squad is dominated by 11 players from Reno FC, who won the Sherwin Williams A league. Five from Meadhaven and four from Maverley/Hughenden.
The squad that will begin training at 7:00 am today at the Constant Spring Football Playing Field are:
