The knee injury suffered by New York winger Dane Richards is worse than the club had originally expected, meaning the Jamaica international will now definitely miss their season opener against Columbus.
Without going into too many specifics, Red Bulls coach Juan Carlos Osorio admitted that the MCL sprain suffered against the Red Bull Salzburg reserves should keep him out longer than the initial month diagnosis.
"It's a lot worse than we expected," Osorio told Big Apple Soccer.
Richards had an MRI in Austria on Wednesday, but will also see a specialist on his return to the States.
