Ronaldo fined by Sir Alex for sending text messages

    February 13, 2008

Cristiano Ronaldo might be one of the three best players in the world at the moment and the best in the English Premier League but according to United manager Sir Alex Ferguson he is not above the code of ethic of the Premiership club. Fergie is reported to have slammed a spot monetary fine for the 23-year old Portuguese star for texting during a training session.

Ronaldo was caught sending four texts in the middle of a session at the Carrington training complex and was fined £2,000 for each text. That is £8,000 in total.

Huge amount for most of us but for Ronaldo that is less than what he earns in one day. Yet this demonstrated that Fergie is still the supreme in the Man United unit and that tells. No player is bigger than the club, or in this case, bigger than the club code of conduct enforced by Sir Alex.
