  • Rickett's GK distribution has to improve

I just hope we don't get more of the same aimless long kicks by Ricketts if he starts in goal today. That has for too long been a a really bad part of his game. Success should not be measured based on how far and high he can kick it, but on what percentage of his throw outs, spot kicks, passes are successfully completed, i.e, possession retained after passing.

He practiced that yesterday. Lets hope he can do it in the match.

Mosiah, did you see an discernable pattern of play in the scrimmages yesterday? ANd what is the field condition?

Field is not bad, but has detiorated. They were practicing some counter-attacking moves with the goalie throwing the ball out right away to begin the attack. It looked good. Ricketts does have an accurate throw and a good quick release punt. But one really wonders if he is brave enuff to do it in the real thing.

Ricketts handled himself better today. Seems as if he is working on his ball distribution and his managing of his area much better than he has in the past. I still think he is about the #3 goalie we have though.

I agree he took too many...but, did you notice that this time he was trying to hit our players. He tied to hit them mainly on the left - wide. ...and, a few times he did it very well. The kicks - wide - were flater and went swiftly to the player. ...btw - In the 2nd half he made more hand passes and as a result he was much more accurate and successful in having us keep possession.
