Carvalho: Write Us Off At Your Peril
Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho has claimed that his side have proved all their critics wrong this season and will do so again by continuing to challenge for all four trophies.
The Portuguese international said team spirit had been the most important factor in the club's continuing good form since losing Didier Drogba, Michael Essien, Salomon Kalou and John Obi Mikel to the Africa Cup Of Nations and John Terry and Frank Lampard to injury.
"We have not slipped up even though everyone expected us to fail because of injuries and the Africa Cup of Nations," Carvalho told the Daily Express.
"But we've not missed a single chance in the competitions. It is a big time for us.
"We knew January was always going to be important but we have shown our determination by coming through it.
"But we have shown we do not just rely on players like Lampard, Terry, Essien and Drogba. Other players have a big part to play.
"We have come through complicated situations in the past because of injuries and we can do it again."
Carvalho also told anyone thinking of writing them out of the race for the Premier League title to think again.
Chelsea have lost just twice in 29 games since Avram Grant took over from Jose Mourniho, a fact that proves they have the desire and spirit to snatch the title away from Manchester United and Arsenal, according to the player.
