Rene Simoes didn't wish to make a comment on any one player for fear of the praises "going to their head" but no doubt the nation's football technical director was impressed by Navion Boyd's deft touches and ability to think on the ball.
The 19-year-old former Wolmerian is playing his second season of Premier League football with league leaders Tivoli Gardens and has caught the attention of everyone with his quick thinking while on attack and his resilience when taking on defenders.

Now with his second national invitation following a call up to the U-23 squad last year, the young man with the famous surname is looking to make the most of it.
"I've been waiting a long time for this opportunity," said Boyd who has netted three goals in the Premiership this season, though his tally is not a reflection of his contribution to his team.
Boyd said he has come into his own this season as his game has matured and he has been playing with more composure - even when he's attacking with blinding pace.
"You can't give the defender the idea that you're scared of him so you have to run at them," said Boyd.
Boyd, along with most of the local 24 invitees, practised at the Barbican playing field yesterday, with each player hoping to be one of the nine that will be selected to join the 14 overseas-based players for the February 6 friendly against Costa Rica at the National Stadium.
Shavar Thomas, currently in the middle of his off-season from Chivas, USA, in the American Major League Soccer, also practised yesterday while striker Fabian Taylor and goalie Richard McCallum were out due to injury.
Simoes said yesterday's practise was a light one as most of the players played in the Premiership on Sunday.
"The first day was good," said Simoes of the training camp which goes up until Friday.
"Finishing is a problem in Jamaica so we will be working on that. I cannot measure the progress after one day but once they perfect practise they will get closer to perfection. So that's what I look for."
This afternoon the squad will train at St George's College, starting at 4 p.m.
