  • 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup™ scheduled for November

Six teams will compete for the Confederation’s title when the 2006 CONCACAF Women’s Gold Cup™ takes place in two USA venues from 19-26 November.

The third edition of the Women’s Gold Cup will have Jamaica, Mexico, Panama and Trinidad & Tobago playing first round matches on 19 November at the Tropical Park Stadium in Miami, Florida.

The first round victors will then advance to the Women’s Gold Cup semifinals and meet either Canada or the host, USA at the Home Depot Center on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills (Carson, California) on 22 November.

The tournament finals will take place on 26 November at the Home Depot Center with the third-place game and the Women’s Gold Cup Championship match.

CONCACAF will determine the tournament’s match-ups via a draw scheduled to take place on next Monday (9 October) at the offices of the CONCACAF General Secretariat in New York City.

The tournament winner and the runner-up will qualify automatically to the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup in China. The third-place finisher from the CONCACAF event will face Japan (from the Asian Football Confederation) in a home-and-away playoff for the final berth to the FIFA tournament.
