Howard University Soccer Coach Arrested posted 5:39 pm Mon January 28, 2008 - Washington

A Howard University soccer coach was arrested in Louisa County, Virginia as part of an online sex sting.

Authorities took 40-year-old Joseph E. Okoh into custody Friday after he drove from his Arlington, Va. home to meet who he believed was a 13-year-old girl that he had been talking to over the internet.

Louisa County sheriff's office said the coach was talking in a Yahoo Instant Message chat room and that they were "shocked" by how quickly the suspect wanted to meet with the girl after just striking up a conversation.

Okoh was arrested on the side of the road at a predetermined location and charged him with one felony count of using a computer to solicit a person under 15-years-old with lascivious intent. He is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Jail after having a hearing Monday morning.

Okoh is in his first season as Head Men's Soccer coach at Howard.

Howard University issued a statement saying Okoh has been suspended from all University activities and duties pending completion of the investigation and resolution of this matter.

    The investigation remains ongoing

And how is that? What was Senior before going to Howard?

Senior was the one of the most highly rated footballers from the DC/MD/VA area and he had offers to go to bigger programs than Howard.

He went to a school that had the worst coach in D-1 and had a crappy first year. They fired him and therefore they couldn't recruit. Now that this coach is going to be out, that means that they are going to have another crappy recruiting season. So the first three years of his College career will be spent in a substandard conference, with sub standard teammates and substandard coaches.

I saw this youth in the U20 tournament in Mexico early last year and he was definitely in my opinion very much a "Desert Fox" in all the games I saw. Wily, Intelligent, creative, patient, hardworking baller seemed an unusual combination, a little too small in size but with that combination of gifts you never know!!

Him need fi take his future in his own hand and go to a better school. Any good coach will understand. The only problem is Howard is a good school and he may want to stay.

There are so many good D1 schools who would do with his talent.

Big East, ACC, Big Ten & Pac-10 are much better conferences and he would be challenged featuring against stronger opposition.
