Hodgson ups striker bid

Fulham are set to make a last-ditch bid to sign Marlon King for £5million even though Watford do not want to sell their prize asset.
Cottagers boss Roy Hodgson has seen a £4million approach rejected by the Hornets, with Aidy Boothroyd warning that he will not sell the striker as he bids to engineer a swift return to the Premier League.
However, the Vicarage Road outfit's resolve is set to be tested with what is thought to be a final offer for the 27-year-old former Nottingham Forest and Gillingham ace.
King cost Watford just £500,000 but with a place in next season's top flight possibly at stake, Boothroyd has so far dug in his heels.
"We don't need to sell - especially to a club who we might be changing places with," he said. "I want him to stay so he stays. That's it. I don't need any money so there is no fee for Marlon."
