  • Can the caribbean ever host the world cup in the future

I think the caribbean should put in a bid to host the world cup of soccer in the future. I personally think that there will be more income than the cricket world cup but we have to improved on our security personnel. That would be a tourism overkill for ueropeans who love soccer than cricket. We can do it we dream and plan for it.

in the future...yeah but unlike cricket which has a regional governing body for a unified team, football would involve independen FA's .... the new stadia would also be an issue i.e. only the bigger countries could justify an 60K plus capacity stadium.....by the caribbean i have to include haiti, DR, PR and cuba.

Of course we can .The main ingredient is there , its a beacon for toursit around the world.

Remember its the World Cup and every nation would want to get involved , i.e sponsor a stadium e.g France and its multi nationals sponsoring a stadium in the Franco carribbean , the same for the British ,americans etc.All they have to do is just sell out the liens on any stadium to a multi national corporation.

      Dont forget the Chinese.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Not practical to even consider. The caribbean nations are just too small to sustain all those stadia after it's over. A smaller event like Gold Cup is more practical.

how do countries with a population of less than 200,000 justify a stadium of 60,000? how often will it be used to capacity?

it would have to be a total caribbean effort and the bigger countries, jamaica, cuba, T&T, haiti, DR and martinique/guadeloupe....THAT would be ideal.

Maybe the Youth World Cups and the Gold Cup.

And only if there is a huge planetary shift that brings all the Caribbean land mass together can we host the World Cup.

Where? About 8 to 10 stadiums are needed. What gonna happen to dem after the WC finish? If concacaf gets a WC, it will be either Canada, USA, Mexico or at least a central american country.

                  Where is the vision?

If being stuck with massive stadia is our problem then let's use or creativity and Caribbean know-how to get around it. How about some stadia that are dismantled after the event and the seats and some structures used to create smaller stadia? Can The National Stadium in Jamaica accommodate 15,000 temporary seats to bring the capacity to 50,000?

Wait till Simoes join mi on this vision thing! Di whole a unnu will run come fallow wi!

uhmm interesting idea. The mobility of the fans is an issue though. The idea of a flight to another venue would severely hurt their bid.

Well ... why dem never construct the one a Trelawny fi dismantle? After Asia 2002, didn't FIFA say there will be no more co hosting of a WC? There is also the issue of transporting teams and fans from point A to point B. Kingston and St. Andrew have JUTC, public transport in the rest of the island is basically public confusion.
