  • Senior Training center or academy?

It is obvious that Simones,Burrell or Boxhill do not know what Fifa gave us the money for. Listening to all the reports tell me that there is a misunderstanding regarding the whole idea..

Was Fifa providing money for senior training centre near Stadium?

Was it a academy or a training centre?

Is this place only for present national teams players?

Is this place for youth soccer development ?

Is our coaches and administrators on the same page regarding this facility?

The most important...What does FIFA have to say about this ongoing issue?

well you are right. You could build an academy in guise and use it to do both and I think that was Burells intention.

why do people keep writing the man's names as SIMONES? it'sbeen 13 years people...the man's name is SIMOES! no "N".

I think the original intent was to build a NTC which would be inclusive of a training academy. Because it would be a NTC, it should not be too far from the place they play, which is the National Stadium. Saying not too far does not necessarily mean it has to be next door, but close enough so the available means of transportation easily accessable.

I dont believe FIFA has a hard rule that stipulate how the money from the goal project should be used..meaning they wiont tell yo uthat you have to use uit to erect a building as opposed to putting in an artifilal turf . Some countries use their money to install artificial turfs (Haiti for instance, also T&T), while some others use theirs to build training centers etc)

It appears to me that Burrell's vision for this place is an all-encompassing one...where players can train (live maybe while in camp), and also serve as a headquarters for the much touted football academy. It appears the previous administration saw the building purely as a headquaters for the academy (youth football only, nothing to do with senior squads)

JFF head Captain Horace Burrell, whose nine-year presidency is being challenged by chairman of South central confederation, Crenston Boxhill, also outlined to journalists details of a football academy and training centre to be built on Government-owned land in Portmore and which were discussed at the meeting.

The facility will be built on 12,570 square metres of land in the vicinity of the old shopping centre in Portmore with help from FIFA, which has donated close to half-million US dollars for the project. A ground-breaking ceremony has been set for November 16. The land will be on a 50-year lease from Government at a symbolic $100 per year.

Burrell said the Vin Lawrence-led Urban Development Corporation (UDC) which has already 'given tremendous assistance' to sport 'will be asked by the JFF to fully manage and implement the whole construction'.
