    Missile-throwing spoils Seba-St George's tie

MONTEGO BAY, St James - Seba's second-round Cash Plus Premier League game against St George's ended in chaos Wednesday night at Jarrett Park after a missile thrown from the crowd struck a St George's official, causing a gash in his head.

The game was tied at 2-2 in time added on when referee Kevin Thomas called it off after assistant referee Garnett Page had to race from the sidelines to prevent Seba's goalkeeper coach, Damion Stewart, from hurling the missile back into the crowd.

Stewart had gone onto the field to tend to an injured player when he was struck. He was treated on the field by team doctor Garfield Campbell and received two stitches to close the wound.

The visitors went ahead twice through Danian Reid in the 30th minute and Richardo Watson in the 64th, while Seba drew level through Stephen Irvin in the 58th and Keniel Moodie in the 78th.

The result left St George's in fifth place with 22 points, while Seba, the early leaders slipped down the ladder to seventh on 19 points.

Despite not winning, St George's Donovan Dukie thought his team did well to get a point away from home, telling reporters after the game, "Today we said we would challenge them as they were the only team that came to Lynch Park and came away with a point, so we definitely went at them."

Whitmore the Seba player/coach who started for the first time all season before taking himself off in the 65th minute, said his players worked hard but "we gave up two goals... we fought back and this is part of football. We have been playing well the past few games but have not been getting the results we are looking for".

Whitmore played in an attacking role before making way for Daniel Ricketts, saw a number of passes into the St George's area being wasted mostly by Donovan Peart and also saw at least two shots blocked by his own teammates.

St George's took the lead against the run of play when Reid curled a direct free kick between goalkeeper Neil Lynch and the left upright. The kick was awarded after Damion Harwood was brought down just outside the area.

St George's goalkeeper Anthoniel Williams brought off a brilliant save in the 45th minute when he went full stretch to his left to palm away a cross from Ricardo Geddes into the path of Peart.

Irving levelled from almost the same spot with a free-kick in the 58th, but St George's led again in the 64th minute. Watson skipped over a rash tackle from Delroy Ellis on the edge of the box and fired into an empty goal.

Moodie saved Seba, however, when he came up field from his central defence position to fire low and hard into the lower right-hand corner.
