A winning formation. For me usually that is a 4 – 2- 2.

I like to have 11 forwards when attacking and 11 defenders when defending.

The formula is very simple - There is only one ball. If we hold on to it, control the ball, pass around, our opponent can’t get the ball and can’t attack us. When the opponent has the ball, we need to pressure them and force them in giving it up and get into transition.

(...not exactly as said, by Rene Simoes...but, the above explains IT!)

...and to be brutally frank the difference between our teams and the top world teams is when we have the ball 'we give it up as easily and as freely as group of w.....es'!

If we lose that w.....e-ish mentality and started to, as TEAM, keep the ball our teams would rapidly advance towards TOP OF THE WORLD!

Outside of fierce determination and attitude, two things needed by each player and collectively TEAM - technique: high technical skills and high level tactical skills! ...without both no-way can TEAM hold on to the ball in games for sufficiently long enough periods to consistently win against top teams.
