STUNNER!.... St Vincent score historic win over Boyz

The Reggae Boyz were beaten for the first time by St Vincent and the Grenadines 2-1 last night inside the National Stadium and must beat Haiti tomorrow to ensure their advancement out of Group D in the Digicel Caribbean Cup.

The result left Carl Brown's Reggae Boyz with a mountain to climb. They will have to lift their so far lacklustre performance, if they hope to defeat Haiti tomorrow and guarantee themselves a place into the next phase.

Haiti had earlier all but assured themselves of a place in the next round when they hammered St Lucia 7-1, and the French-speaking country now leads the group with maximum six points, ahead both of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Jamaica on three points. St Lucia are winless and pointless.

Substitute Wesley John volleyed the visitors into the lead three minutes after the restart, before Kendal Velox doubled the lead in the 70th minute when he was allowed space to shoot from 25 yards.

Roland Dean, on for Kevin Lamey, pulled one back two minutes later, but the Boyz were beaten soundly in the end by a more spirited SVG side that celebrated as if they had won the Digicel Cup at the end.

Another subdued 45 minutes from the Reggae Boyz saw them entering the interval against St Vincent and the Grenadines at nil-all.

The Boyz continued in similar style like they did in the second half of their opening game on Wednesday night versus St Lucia, as they lacked ideas going forward.

Demar Phillips' shot mid-way the first half, was easily handled by the Vincentian goalkeeper Melvin Andrews, while Fabian Davis hit his free-kick from just outside the area over the crossbar.

And there were lots of boos from the frustrated, but still faithful fans, as Trinidadian referee Neil Brizan sounded the half-time whistle.

"It therefore is useless and pointless, unless it is for share malice and victimisation to arrest and charge a 92-year-old man for such a simple offence. There is nothing morally wrong with this man smoking a spliff; the only thing wrong is that it is still on the law books," said Chevannes.

Actually, St. Vincent is not a bad team. Very rough and tumble and hungry, coached by Serbian Zran Vranes who got lots of training in the football academies in T&T. Vranes did coach T&T in a previous world cup attempt and did ok in the Gold Cupand had spent alot of time studying caribbean opponents like Jamaica. For T&T, playing against him in the world cup qualifiers was a nightmare and alot of fans don't realize that those games against Vincey were as significant as the Mexico, Panama, Guatemala and Bahrain games and that's where T&Ts gutsyness for World Cup developed. Jamaica must get a good foreign coach. St. Vincent is very lucky to get a coach like Vranes, but T&T has moved to another coaching level.

Sometime you have to hit bottom before you bounce back. The problem is I dont know who the coach is. I dont know if we are rebuilding.. I dont know who is leading the team. How can vp help the program when they are fighting politics and running record label. We need football people. Carl will get blam for this but its not his fault. Boxhill do the honourable thing and **** off.

Jamaicas football problems may be solved by putting back Burrell, leaving Cal as interim coach and bringing on Barnes as Coach with carl as assistant. When Barnes leaves the Carl has extraaa ammunition to pass on the the next phase. Send a few players more like Roen Nelson to the Trinidad professional league. He should have been selected but club vs country conflicts are possible as those players like Nelsonare well paid in Trinidad
