The Jamaican women's junior side secured a place at the 2008 CONCACAF U-17 Championship after finishing tops in their group at the Caribbean qualifiers in St Johns, Antigua & Barbuda between 21 and 24 November.
In their first match on the 21st they scored no less than eight goals in an 8-0 hammering of outgunned US Virgin Islands with Monique Pryce, Vanessa Ramsay and Shenika Williams all scoring two goals each. Then they fell off the pace a bit to wallop their hosts by only seven goals (7-0), Williams notching herself a hat-trick.
Having scored 15 goals and conceded zero to that point, the Reggae Girlz were oozing sunshine and confidence heading into their last game at the Antigua Recreation Ground. The Cayman Islands proved a stiffer test though and the Jamaicans laboured to a nervy 2-1 win.
The islanders will now face Puerto Rico, Canada, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, the USA and another Caribbean qualifier yet to be determined in the final CONCACAF qualifying round for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup which will take place in New Zealand next year.
