Newly promoted August Town are still savouring the taste of their first National Premier League (NPL) victory after defeating a sluggish Village United 2-0 at the Elliston Wakeland Sports Complex yesterday.
Jermaine Richards in the seventh minute and Aphas Bernard in the 65th minute were the players on target for the Chris Bender-coached team.

As expected, Bender was ecstatic over his team's maiden victory in the competition after three starts.
"This is for the entire August Town community. We worked hard... this is the reward of hard work," beamed Bender.
He added: "To come here and get all three points and not to concede a goal, I think I am happy with that."
Dr Dean Weatherly, on the other hand, rued the lethargic performance from his Village United outfit.
"The euphoria of last week's win is what caused us to come out and play on a low, low, low. This is one thing we have to get over. We have to learn to build on what we already achieve," he said.
Jermaine Richards gave his team the early lead after he darted down the right flank, leaving Colin Williams and Jeff Pearce for dead and shot past the outstretched arms of goalkeeper Leighton Murray.
The Falmouth-based team mounted numerous raids in search of the equaliser and came close on several occasions, but were denied by brilliant goalkeeping by Devon Haughton, as well as faulty shooting.
Village United received a further setback 11 minutes after the break when second half substitute Leon Irving was ejected for a retaliatory elbow which sent Alphas Bernard to the deck.
Nine minutes later, Bernard tightened the grip on the game for his team when he headed home a Richard Hoo cross.
August Town also ended the game with 10 men after Ross Burton was given marching orders by referee Howard Stennett for a second bookable offence.
The teams shared the honours 1-1 in the Under-21 game.
Teams: Village - Leighton Murray, Andre Moore, Troy Smith, Ian McAnuff, Collin Williams (Luke Tate 77th), Jeff Pearce, Newton Sterling, Omar Allen, Ricardo Reid, Everett Mullings (Mark Williams 53rd), Devron Clarke (Leon Irving 46th).

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
