Controversial goal hands Reno 1-0 over August Town

    Reno.............................................. ..........1 Scott (71st)
    August Town.........................................0
SANTA CRUZ, St Elizabeth — Tenman Reno scored a controversial 1-0 win over August Town at the St Elizabeth Technical grounds in Santa Cruz yesterday as the Cash Plus Premier League continued.
Tempers flared and the game was held up for about 10 minutes in the second half as members of the August Town team, including officials protested the awarding of the goal in the 70th minute.
Ricardo Scott's powerful shot from just outside the six-yard box on the right side appeared to beat goalkeeper Devon Haughton's outstretched hands into the goal.
The team, however, protested the goal, indicating it had passed on the outside of the post and through a hole in the net and asked that it be disallowed.
Television replays showed that the August Town players were correct, but referee Garnett Page and assistant Malachi Brown stood by their decision much to the anger of the Kingston-based team.
FIFA rules do not allow for the use of replay technology in official games.
August Town's coach, Calvert Fitzgerald, was sent off during the hold up, but returned after the game to continue his protestations as the officials were escorted off the field by police officers.
    Teams:
Reno — Dennis Taylor, Everton Palmer, Omar Johnson, Kendrie Quarrie, O'Brian Woodbine, Damion Newton, Patrick Graham (Dwight Gordon 64th), Shane Edwards (Dwayne Plummer 46th), Fabian Blake, Ricardo Scott (Kemar Dawkins 90+), Kevon Grant Subs not used — L McIntosh, A Walker, A Robinson, D Howard Booked: Scott (70th), Johnson (86th), Plummer (68th — ejected) August Town — Devon Haughton, Ajuran Brown, Kevin Henzel, Tafari O'Conner, Nicholas Smith, Aphas Bernard, Rohan Reid (Shawn Henry 65th), Zeico Herrera, Tremaine Stewart, Nicholas McCreath (Rollin Francis 67th), David Stultz (Valin Cameron-81st)

Sicko can I ask a stupid question ?

Don't the ref and linesmen check the netting on the goals b4 every NPL game to see that there are no holes in the nets ?

    How could this happen.

I dont think it was a hole per se that the net was torn as it was a brand new net, what might have happened is that the net was not tied securely to the post so the force of the ball forced it between the net and the post.

Regardless of the mistake, the AT players and management made thing much worst for themselves as they will lose a lot more than just three points when the JFF meet to deal with it.

How could it be obvious to the naked eye when it happened so fast and even the assistant was right there and did not see it?

From what I heard, since I was on the field, it took at least two or three showing and slo-mo for the TV people to see it.

Saw The Opposite On You Tube.....

The offensive player fired a low shot from an angle that appeared to just miss the far post. The ball rolled along the goal line, toward the corner.

A teammate picked up the ball, cut it back toward a teammate, who then scored.

Slow motion showed The initial shot went inside the post (GOAL) and exited through the side netting.

              National Hockey League Video Review

All goals in the National Hockey League may be subject to video review.
Some of the issues that can be addressed are:

Did the puck COMPLETELY cross the goal line?

Did the puck enter the net, hit a back post, and then rebound out too quickly to be seen with the naked eye? Did the puck enter and exit the net through a hole

Did the puck enter the net from the outside or from underneath the base?

Did the puck cross the goal line before time expired?

Was an offensive player illegally in the goal crease or illegally interfering with the goaltender?

Did the offensive player illegally put the puck into the net with a stick above the crossbar of the net, or kicking it into the net?

If play is stopped, the disputed play must be resolved before play resumes.

If the referee initially rules NO GOAL, and play continues, the disputed play must be resolved at the next whistle.

If the referee initially rules NO GOAL, and video shows the play to be a goal, ALL PLAY, INCLUDING ANOTHER GOAL and MINOR PENALTIES, are cancelled. The clock will be reset to the time of the first goal.

Video must be CONCLUSIVE to reverse a call. If video is inconclusive, the original call must stand.
